Grant Application Guidelines

General Guidelines

  • Grants are provided to “Share the Spirit of the Game” by supporting grassroots Rugby endeavours that grow the game across Australia

  • This year’s grants will focus on the following categories with a specific budget allocated to each:

    • Innovative/Pilot Programs to Share the Spirit of the Game.

      • Grassroots Rugby Programs assist in the recruitment and development of rugby participants.

      • Application must include plan for financial sustainability beyond the provision of a TRCF Grant.

    • Coach Education.

      • With a preference for the focus to be on Level 1 Course completion.

    • Referee Development.

      • We note the funding for referee development is already exhausted through support to a Referee Development Officer initiative.

    • Junior Player Recruitment & Development.

      • Includes Gala Days/Come-Try-It Days

      • Event must provide first aid and accredited referees.

      • Provision to be made for an 18-25 year old to be paid to project manage the event (to encourage the next generation into the behind the scenes running of grassroots Rugby).

      • A maximum of $2,500 is available per Gala/Come-Try-It Day.

    • Junior Academies.

      • Focused on participation rather than high-performance outcomes.

      • A maximum of $10,000 is available per Junior Academy.

  • Grant requests must be co-funded and therefore may not exceed 50% of the total program cost.

  • Each application will be review on its merits.

  • The information below aims to assist applicants to understand our current funding preferences.

Most Likely To Be Funded

  • New/innovative programs that benefit zones, districts, associations or unions.

  • Programs that enhance junior participation.

  • Pilot programs requiring seed funding and have a plan for financial self-sufficiency by the end of the third year of operation. This plan must be documented in the application.

  • Programs that address remoteness and/or inclusivity.

  • Programs that support recruitment and retention of players, match officials and volunteers.

  • Programs that help a Club run effectively and efficiently.

Less Likely to be funded

  • Individual Club applications. However, new/innovative programs will be considered, if endorsed by their District or equivalent.

  • For profit rugby programs that are not covering an unmet need in rugby service provision.

Not FUNDED AT THIS TIME

  • Applications from outside of Australia

  • Team transportation and accommodation costs

  • Equipment such as balls and cones

  • Ground Hire
